American Sign Museum

Life has been pretty calm around here lately, but not for long. There are a lot of cool things in the works over here in my world and I'm pretty stoked for all of them. In my last post, I stated that January really didn't give much to be excited for and I kinda wanna take that back. In the next few weeks, I have two different food events to attend (Yes. You sense a pattern. This girl loves to eat) and something kinda big that I've been working on. 2015, you're shapin' up ok!

A friend of mine and I were looking for something cheap slash fun to do last week and after very little research I found way too many options to even choose from. Shows, exhibits and poetry readings were happening all over this glorious city and they're all now sitting patiently in my phone notes waiting to be explored.  We ended up at the American Sign Museum. Cincinnati people, have you ever heard of it? It's pretty fantastic. It's on Monmouth street over near Clifton-ish and it's just a warehouse filled with old signs from god only knows when. They're organized by era and it's pretty cool to walk through. We saw photos of people that had booked the place for weddings and parties and I couldn't help but think that was the best idea ever. I mean, the photos were sooo gorgeous. Anyway, go. Go as soon as you have a Sunday afternoon to spare. Say you're a student and get like $5 off.  I opted for the self guided tour because I'm not really one to pay attention when someone is trying to teach me something. I would rather read along slowly and to myself. We took plenty of pictures but mostly they all look the same. Just bright neon signs of beauty. When you first pull up, you'll be greeted with an Arby's sign the size of your car and a giant bucket from KFC. So random. I know. But we liked it. I love finding random things around this city, though it's slightly embarrassing to find things that have been here for years that I had never heard of. Like, where have I been?

  1. Ahhh yes! I've never been there, but I bought a Groupon for it a few months ago. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet! I love that you think it's a great place for weddings because I'm currently in the market of planning one. Somewhere unique to keep in mind!

  2. Ah, your photos are all so fun! And a good reminder that I have that Groupon too... I think my little guy is going to love the lights, so we definitely need to get ourselves over there soon.
