good bye, old house!

Posted on: 3.25.2012

yesterday was a very emotional day. my dad decided to sell the house i grew up in and bought a new house to move into with his new fiance. i'm very happy for him and am excited for his new journey, but it was still sad walking around the house i grew up in and taking in all of the memories. my house was the hangout spot in highschool and all of my friends knew that they were always welcome. we loved it there. sleepovers with girlfriends, parties after football games and filming school projects are all memories that i will have forever. thank god jon and i were off and were able to help. jon's a big strong dude and was able to carry things that my dad could have never done alone. (including taking apart this big ol' thing!!) good luck on your new adventure dad. house on chapel, you will be missed!!
empty rooms mean full trucks!!
more VHS tapes than any home should have anymore...
 bye house! it's been real!

Arlo McKinley and the Lonesome Sound

as small as cincinnati might seem to some, i love it here. i'll probaby never leave, at least not permanently. i love the talent that comes out of this town and i love seeing bands and artists aspire. friday night, jon and i went to see a band at Madison theater in northern kentucky. a friend of jon's invited us out and i'm so glad we went. they were absolutely amazing. just three guys, three instruments and a lot of soul. we drank and danced around and had a great night. this guy has some pipes let me tell ya! their sound got me so excited for what's to come in our future and i looked at jon and said "whenever we get married, i want them to perform" with a smile, he agreed.

pretty kitty in the sun.

a happy stoop!!

i think it's for the best that the front of our apartment (drab, plain, bare and sad) doesn't match the inside (awesome, bright, fun & inviting) the last thing you want someone to think is that you have nice expensive things in your home that they should feel welcomed to! but, even with that said, i couldn't handle the thought of having no plants outside during the spring time! i love our entire street of houses. it reminds me of a sesame street of 2012 and it's so adorable!! i decided it would be fun to spray paint my own clay pots and pot some plants myself and i'm pretty proud of how they turned out!!
i first primed each pot and waited about 20 minutes so they could dry. i sprayed each pot with a different color and let them sit over night (there was a spray paint cloud over our living room) i was so excited to get up this morning and get the pots outside... and also already received 2 neighborhood compliments!

clothing swap with friends!

holy moly, the past few weeks i have been busy with... literally nothing. same stuff, different day with just no real desire to get on my computer. but i'm finally back. and along with my reapparance, the SUN is returning as well!! the past few days have been absolutely gorgeous and will be hanging around for a while. i'm only slightly bummed that it seems spring will not actually be springing. looks like we are going straight to summer weather.

last friday, i had one of the greatest ideas i have ever had. i invited some girlfriends over and we had a thrift party!! we all brought a bag of clothes, shoes and jewelry that we didn't want anymore. like the old saying goes, "one man's trash is another man's treasure" there were plenty of tops and dresses that i couldn't wait to get my hands on. we each drew a number, went in order and picked an item each until they were all gone. we decided this will absolutely be a seasonal party idea!!

the rest of this week will be dedicated to being outside as much as possible, working plenty and potting plants for our front stoop. happy spring Summer!!

Bernhoft, a musical genius!!

Posted on: 3.04.2012

like i have said before, i have such a strong respect and appreciation for good, raw talent. musically speaking, i love someone that puts their music out there and they are legitimately discovered.
Bernhoft was introduced to me by jon and i'm so glad that it was!! a friend showed it to him and he was shown by someone else. i love that. i love how quickly word can spread when someone discovers a rising star.  when you listen to him in interviews, he even says "i wasn't expecting anyone to ever really see it. it was just for my friends to see and it blew up" he records ever lyric and sound he makes and then records over it, and so on and so on. he overlays all of the sounds to make a completely smooth sound and it's brilliant. this is just one video of him but he is absolutely fanastic.

an afternoon to play outside!

Posted on: 3.01.2012

today was aboslutely gorgeous out! i had to work this morning but rushed home to jon to see if i could convince him to go outside and play with me! he agreed, saying that he really wanted to go out and play frisbee golf (his favorite past time) we went to a park i have never been to and it was huge and really pretty! thank goodness for this unexpected yet anticipated amazing weather!
i love my boyfriend and i would support his every wish. but i am not the greatest of all frisbee golfers.
so i figured the great weather and amazing sunshine would be a good opportunity to get my camera out and practice with sun exposure. i need to learn more about my camera, that's for sure.

i was trying to focus on this thing for about 15 minutes and getting super frustrated.
finally got it! the guy at the front desk of the frisbee golf shop told me about a tutorial book on my camera and i think i'll be investing in it tomorrow! lots still to learn!
another great day! so glad to see spring is on its way!
