i've always been a firm supporter of national holidays- i mean, aren't we all? newport on the levee was packed today with kids and parents enjoying their day off. i felt like people were smiling at each other more than usual, almost like we were all sharing a unanimous feeling of appreciation for the sunshine. when i ranted and raved to people about my glazed donut burger from the beer fest, everyone (literally everyone) said "you guys gotta go try tom + chee!" it's sort of new. sort of not. apparently we were out of the loop and had yet to try it but holy moly it will be my new favorite spot from now on for one of those meals that fills you up & leaves you feeling happy and heavy. they offer the classic grilled cheese and tomato soup, as well as more grown up versions and, obviously, grilled cheese on glazed donuts... with bananas... and pickles. doesn't it just sound like a pregnant craving paradise?? a totally off beat, quirky environment complete with comic book heros and action figures. we died and went to heaven.
not a bad view, either!
I've been dying to get back to Tom + Chee to try another variety... I had the pesto/turkey one at the downtown location, but so many looked so yummy! Also, fabulous photos as usual.

ReplyDeleteaw thank you michelle!! yes, my camera is my baby though i accidentally beat the crap out of her all the time. (drop her in water, drop her, etc.) but she loves me anyways!
